  • 06-04-2004 Strange Fruit has just published "Syd Barrett - Radio 1 Sessions" with 5 tracks from the Top Gear session from February 1970 featuring Dave Gilmour and Humble Pie's drummer Jerry Shirley and 3 previously unreleased tracks from the Bob Harris session from February 1971.

  • 01-02-2004 Pink Floyd: The Official History: The Pink Floyd drummer finally will give "the official story" of Pink Floyd from the Barrett years till today. The book of the "complete biography of Pink Floyd" will be out in the first months of this year.

     

  • 08-11-2003 London - David Gilmour received an honor from Queen Elizabeth II. The Guitarist, appearing with his wife Polly Samson and two of his eight children, received the honor for his services to music after a 30-year career with Pink Floyd.

  • 13-10-2003 Paris: Pink Floyd Interstellar, an extraordinary exhibition from October 2003 until 25 January 2004, with the support and collaboration of Gilmour, Waters, Mason and Wright, who provided the content from their personal archives, and with the art direction of Storm Thorgeson.   • 24-09-2003 "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii - The Director's Cut" is finally out, released on DVD format.
    Some warnings:
    • The Adrian Maben's cut does not add any new Floyd stuff or any extra songs but consists of some coloured footage and animation of space, taken from the BBC series "The Planets" and from NASA animation.
    • A big bestiality: the 16x9 aspect ratio was obtained by cutting the original video frame of 1.33:1, with very annoying results.
    • The audio track is only in Dolby Digital 2.0

     

  • 21-05-2003 David Gilmour has sold his Georgian mansion in London and given all the money (£3.6 million) to a charity to build houses and community centres for the homeless.
    He said: "It seemed obscene of us to be rattling around in such a large home when others had nowhere to live. I'd had the house 20 years, It took me a long time to persuade myself to sell it, but Polly said: 'You don't bloody need it, it's too big, it's a bloody great mausoleum'."

Storm Thorgerson, who designed the cover for Dark Side Of The Moon, and most other Floyd covers, talks about the design, the album, his friendship with the Floyd, Syd Barrett and the split with Roger Waters. We hear the entire album plus a track from the engineer at Abbey Road during the recording session, (Alan Parsons) and a classic Floyd track with Syd Barrett.

  • 20-02-2003 On the 24th March 2003 DVD UK Ltd are releasing The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story (Omnibus programme) on DVD and VHS in the UK.

     

  • 13-01-2003 As announced from this site since 28-Sept-2002, it is expected that "Dark Side Of The Moon" will be rereleased in the superb SACD format to celebrate its 30th Anniversary on March 3, 2003. The CD will be available in a deluxe slipcase with extensive linernotes and booklet. The disc will feature multi-channel SACD (full 5.1 Surround Sound), stereo SACD and stereo CD versions of the songs (hybrid multi-layer SACD/CD format). The 5.1 mix is being done by James Guthrie, working very closely with the Floyd's members.

  • 13-07-2002 On June 26, 2002, Nick Mason played "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" with Roger Waters, during the Wembley Arena stage of the "In the Flesh" tour.
    The reunion was disclosed some days earlier by Stefano Magnani of "Pianeta Rosa", the most important Italian Floyd Fanzine. Magnani reports other news (kind of a gossip): in the London after show party he saw Waters's son, Harry, hand in hand with a very beautiful girl, Sarah Gilmour.
